Being a diabetic does NOT mean that from now on, you are on an all-lettuce diet. Even though being diagnosed as a Type 2 Diabetic inspires many to become vegetarian, it is not required in order to BEAT DIABETES. However, there are some things we must remember when we do decide what to eat. In fact, many keep a food diary in order to monitor their food intake, especially the carbohydrates, sugars, and calories that are digested.
Obviously, it is very important to limit your sugars and carbohydrates (which happen to be made of sugars). As I mentioned earlier, it is a very good idea to track your food intake with either an app or a food diary, whichever works best for you. Apps like MyFitnessPal and MyNetDiary are very useful for tracking food. MyNetDiary also has features allowing you to track blood glucose levels and blood pressure. When deciding what to eat, it is important to eat lots of whole grains and lowfat products.
